Biomechanical Performance of Menisci under Cyclic Loads

چکیده

The meniscus, composed of fibrocartilage, is a very important part the human knee joint that behaves like buffer. Located in middle femoral condyles and tibial plateau, it necessary structure to maintain normal biomechanical properties knee. Whether walking or exercising, meniscus plays vital role protect articular surface both plateau by absorbing conveying shock from body weight. However, modern people often suffer irreversible degeneration tissue due exercise-induced harm aging. Therefore, understanding its dynamic characteristics will help learn more about actual state motion avoid unnecessary injury. This study uses reverse engineering equipment, 3D optical scanner, plastic teaching model build geometry meniscus. Then, finite element method (FEM) employed obtain results show natural frequencies, mode shapes, fatigue life analysis with real material parameters. achieved can be applied do subsequent simulation analysis, reduce lower external impacts, manufacture artificial through engineering.

Shape optimization of reduced beam section under cyclic loads

Optimal shapes are found for reduced beam section of a cantilever H-beam subjected to forced cyclic displacement at the free end. The beam is discretized to finite elements, and a commercial software package called ABAQUS is used for elastoplastic analysis. The numerical results are first compared with experimental results to verify the accuracy. The objective function to be maximized is the di...

Study of Energy Dissipation in Accordion Thin-Walled Tubes under Axial Cyclic Loads

Energy absorber systems like metallic dampers for controlling the structural vibrations due to earthquake have witnessed considerable development in the past few decades. Also there are some studies on the energy absorption of thin-walled tubes due to impact load. Thin-walled tubes have a large deformation capacity and are suitable energy absorbers in the structure during an earthquake provided...

Biomechanical comparison of menisci from different species and artificial constructs

BACKGROUND Loss of meniscal tissue is correlated with early osteoarthritis but few data exist regarding detailed biomechanical properties (e.g. viscoelastic behavior) of menisci in different species commonly used as animal models. The purpose of the current study was to biomechanically characterize bovine, ovine, and porcine menisci (each n = 6, midpart of the medial meniscus) and compare their...

The Performance of Routing Algorithms under Bursty Traffic Loads

Routing algorithms are traditionally evaluated under Poisson-like traffic distributions. This type of traffic is smooth over large time intervals and has been shown not necessarily to be representative to that of real network loads in parallel processing and communication environments. Bursty traffic, on the other hand, has been shown to be more representative of the type of load generated by m...
